Favorite quote: “Do it or don’t. It’s amazing how many things in life are that easy.”
When I’m not at work, you’ll find me: planning the next adventure with my wife or relaxing in my favorite recliner and listening to music.
Q. What inspired you to pursue a career in science?
A. At first, my interest in the biological sciences led me to pursue a degree in biochemistry, an integrative program that blends chemistry, physics and biology into application. My experiences in laboratory research, coupled with my desire to continually apply my scientific knowledge, led me to seek a career path that would use both.
Q. What do you enjoy most about being a scientist?
A. I enjoy the challenge of applying my experience and education to each novel problem that we are asked to solve. Each day, I have the ability to learn something new in an environment that encourages individualism and creativity. I am proud that I have access to a wide variety of the latest analytical equipment and that I’m a part of a group of individuals who are all experts in their operation.
Q. What’s your most memorable customer project and why?
A. Honestly, every project is a memorable one. Each customer brings with them a unique set of objectives and criteria, with no two days ever being the same. One of the joys of working in this field is that there is never a “routine.”
Q. What’s the proudest moment in your career thus far?
A. It has to be the moment when I realized I had transitioned from the position of being solely a student to one where I’m a teacher as well.
